Elena and Arturo, a sunset wedding at Villa Riviera

For Elena and Arturo, Villa Riviera was the setting for a gently paced day, made of simple gestures and people close at hand. It’s a venue I know well, between Portofino and the Cinque Terre, with the gulf in front and the maritime pines drawing the horizon.

Getting ready was full of small moments: the last touches to Arturo’s tie, the little dog beside Elena, the high necked dress and the long lace veil. The ceremony took place in an ancient stone church, its entrance framed by a cloud of white flowers, and ended with petals and hugs. Afterwards, among ancient ruins and a white Fiat 500, there was time for a few portraits in the afternoon light.

Cocktails on the lawn at sunset, with the silhouettes of the pines against the pink sky, were one of the most beautiful moments of the day. Then dinner under a pergola of lights, the toasts, the white flowers on the tables and a party that kept going until late.
