Chelsea and Victor, a sea view wedding at Villa Riviera, Santa Giulia

Villa Riviera is in Santa Giulia, between Portofino and the Cinque Terre, and it has one of those views that seem to go on forever: the open sea all the way to the horizon, the maritime pines, the gulf right below. Chelsea and Victor, a young Chinese couple living in the United States, chose it to get married surrounded by the family and friends who followed them all the way here.

Getting ready in the villa’s frescoed rooms was light and full of laughter, with the bridesmaids in shades of green and blue and the final touches in front of the window. The ceremony took place on the seafront lawn, with a string quartet just a few steps away and full sunshine making everything even brighter. Then cocktails under the olive trees, the first toasts, the speeches.

Dinner arrived with the sunset, which at Villa Riviera is a moment of its own: the light turning warm, the gulf changing color, the couple slipping away for a few minutes to watch it together. And when evening fell, the party took over, with dancing with the families, hugs and toasts until late.
